I enjoyed the course, Women in Literature, as a whole. I learned a lot and I enjoyed analyzing how women are presented and illustrated within forms of literature. The class made me view literary works from angles and through lenses I never had before, and the class definitely challenged me in many positive ways.

I loved the topics we focused on, female identity being a major one, and the novels we read. My favorite novel was definitely Corrigedora. I loved the structure and style of the piece. Sometimes it was difficult to finish some of the novels we were assigned. When a book hooks you, you cannot put it down. However, if it does not hook you, it is a chore to finish. Due to the limited time given to read each novel, I really had to stay on top of my work.

The class definitely had a heavy workload, but it was enjoyable because I was passionate about the topics we were studying. I particularly enjoyed the final because of the freedom we were given for it. Most classes have you on a pretty tight leash, so I really enjoyed the freedom the assignment permitted. My creativity was really able to stretch its wings and it was nice to apply it to topics we learned in class.

I do wish that maybe we could have read one less novel. I feel as though as a class we needed more time on each novel we read. Some of the novels needed more time to digest and be pondered over. I also wish we had more class discussions because the ones we did have were very enjoyable and effective.

I thought the class was structured very well. It was incredibly organized and efficient. There was never any miscommunication. As a class, we knew what was expected of us, when things were due, and what resources were available. We had great conversations in class and were able to develop our thoughts and analysis’ outside of the class. The class material was thought-provoking, impactful, and enjoyable.
